AARON PANKEN Obituary
The congregation of Westchester Reform Temple mourns the death of its longtime, devoted member, our former rabbinic intern and esteemed teacher, beloved husband of our past president Lisa Messinger, and adoring father of Eli and Samantha Panken. A giant among Reform Jewish leaders and intellectuals, Rabbi Panken served as the 12th president of Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion. I only met Rabbi Panken twice when he bought a sailplane from our flying club in Dansville, NY. I was impressed by his forthright manner, warmth and friendliness in the sale negotiations. My sincere sympathy and condolences to his family and friends. We have lost a remarkable man.
