ADELE BLOCK Obituary

BLOCK--Adele,

passed away on April 17, 2018 at her home in New York City. She was born on April 19, 1915 in Philadelphia to Jennie Davis Goldberg and Harry H. Goldberg. She attended the University of Wisconsin and the University of Pennsylvania before marrying Leonard Block in 1936 and moving to New York City. She considered herself a lifelong New Yorker. She lived life to the fullest and contributed time and energy to make the city a better place for all who live here. She was involved in numerous communal and philanthropic activities. She served as President of the Women's Division of the Federation of Jewish Philanthropies and Chair of the New York Service for the Handicapped (Rising Treetops at Oakhurst). She was a founding board member of Lincoln Center Theater and served on the board of The Lighthouse. She was also a trustee of Elberon Library, near her summer home of over 70 years. Didi, to those close to her, is survived by her children Peggy Danziger and Thomas Block, her son-in-law Dick Danziger and her daughter-in-law, Marilyn Friedman; her grandchildren, Katie Danziger and Steve Horowitz, Betsy Danziger, Jonathan and Jennifer Block, Alison Block and Timothy Poore; and twelve great-grand- children, James, Robby, Charlie, and Teddy Danziger; Jake, Jilly, and Josie Horowitz; Benjamin, Zachary, and Alexander Block; and Stella and Arthur Poore. She was predeceased by her husband of 69 years and her grandson, Michael Danziger. Services Sunday, April 22, 11am at Temple Emanu-El, 5th Avenue at 65th St., NYC. Reception to follow.

I work at Robbins Wolfe and for years we would do parties for Adele. She and her family and staff were the best. They all made you feel like you were a part of the family. Her beautiful personality will definitely be missed. I will have a martini in your honor. Heaven just got a little classier
