ALAN BERNIKOW

BERNIKOW--Alan S. "Al", who gained prominence as a leader of several consulting and accounting firms, passed away on September 26, 2023, at the age of 82. Following his retirement in 2003 as Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Deloitte & Touche, predecessor to the global firm Deloitte, Al became a Co-Founder and Partner of both K2 Integrity, an international risk advisory firm, and Kroll Bond Rating Agency. Earlier, he was National Administrative Partner in charge of internal administration and finance for the accounting firm J.K. Lasser & Company. Al's insight and guidance have been sought out by many corporations, and he served on the boards of Revlon, Inc. and Revlon Consumer Products Corporation, UBS Global Asset Management (US) Inc., Mack-Cali, Destination XL Group, Inc., and Florida Community Bank (f/k/a: Premier American Bank, N.A.). Al and his wife of 50 years, Joan, are known as generous philanthropists and supporters of a wide range of service and civic organizations. The Joan & Al Bernikow Jewish Community Center of Staten Island stands as a testament to their devotion to the community. Al also was a member of the boards of the Jewish Communal Fund, United Jewish Communities--The Federations of North America, UJA--Federation of Jewish Philanthropies, and Richmond University Medical Center. A resident of Staten Island, NY and Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Al is survived by his loving wife. Along with Al's family, friends and colleagues, we mourn the loss of a caring and compassionate human being, an inspiring mentor, and an irreplaceable business and community leader.
