Alfred Kahn Obituary

KAHN--Alfred J. The entire Columbia University School of Social Work community notes with sadness the death of Professor Emeritus Alfred J. Kahn on February 13. A world-renowned social policy scholar and educator, he was a professor at the school for 57 years. In the early 1980s, Dr. Kahn chaired the influential Committee on Child Development Research and Public Policy of The National Academy of Science. During his career he was the recipient of awards and honors from various universities and professional associations. He will be long remembered as a social work pioneer, author, consultant, teacher and advocate. Sincerest condolences are extended to his daughter, Nancy Valerie Kahn, and his family. Dr. Jeanette C.
