ANN ELLIMAN

ELLIMAN--Ann. Ann Rockefeller Elliman died at age 96 on Friday, June 16 in Greenwich, CT after a short illness. Daughter of Avery and Anna Rockefeller of Greenwich, she was born on October 7, 1926 in New York City. She was a Greenwich resident for her adult life, and loved her vacations at Ampersand Pond in the Adirondacks and Overhills Farms in North Carolina. She attended Greenwich Academy, Miss Porter's School, and Sarah Lawrence College before marrying Edward Scales Elliman of New York City in 1946. They raised three sons, and Ann engaged in community work for six decades. Modest and understated, Ann possessed a quiet passion, and she wholeheartedly committed herself to community service and environmental conservation. Recognized for her common sense and diplomacy, she naturally ended up in leadership positions, both locally and nationally. In Greenwich: Community Center Inc, YWCA, Mews, Greenwich Audubon, Hortulus Garden Club, Greenwich Tree Conservancy, Mianus River Gorge Conservancy, and Christ Church. Nationally: Garden Club of America, NPCA, National Trust for Historic Preservation. Other charitable organizations include the Adirondack Experience, Underhill and Overhills Foundations. Edward Elliman, her husband of 63 years, predeceased her in 2009. She is survived by her three sons: Edward (Ted) of Framingham MA, David and Christopher (Kim), both of New York City; seven grandchildren: Westyn, Devon, and Dascher Branch-Elliman; Isabel, Henry, Theodore, and Claire Elliman; and three great grandchildren: Jasper and Bret Zucker, and Louise Elliman Hardesty. Much loved, she also leaves behind many close friends here and abroad. Funeral services will be private.
