GOTTLIEB--Ann. The staff and trustees of the North Shore-Long Island Jewish (LIJ) Health System are greatly saddened by the death of trustee Ann Gottlieb, a long-time friend and benefactor of LIJ Medical Center. Her long association with LIJ Medical Center began in 1958, when she became a hospital volunteer. Ann helped create the LIJ Friends Campaign, which raised funds for innovative hospital programs. With her late husband Jules, Ann established a legacy of excellence in women's healthcare. The Ann and Jules Gottlieb Women's Comprehensive Health Center in Manhasset, NY addresses women's healthcare needs through all stages of life, providing an array of resources at a single, state-of-the-art facility. The Schlanger, Gottlieb, Partners Council Breast Imaging Center in Lake Success, NY is dedicated to detecting and diagnosing breast cancer. As part of its Women's Health Conference, North Shore-LIJ created the Ann Gottlieb Award for Excellence in Teaching to honor physicians who exemplify the highest qualities of an educator. Ann's hard work, dedication and generosity will always be remembered. We extend our heartfelt sympathy to her family.
