KRETSCHMANN-- Annemarie. Annemarie Kretschmann, 68, of Westport, CT, died Monday, January 23, 2023. Annemarie was born and raised in Rye Neck, NY. Annemarie would then at- tend the Fashion Institute of Technology and earn a degree in interior architecture from the Art Institute of Chicago. While in school, it was during a summer internship at an architectural firm in New York City that Annemarie would meet the love of her life and husband of 45 years, Klaus. Over the sub- sequent years, Annemarie would achieve much in interior design, commercial and residential real estate development, and investing. Her experience spanned across leading architectural firms, ultimately culminating in co-founding and running her own successful design firm in Westport, CT. Annemarie also authored several books, and her work was featured in leading industry publications. While Annemarie's career achievements were considerable, she would consider her greatest successes in life to be as a wife, as a mother, as a grandmother, and as a friend. Many of her most sacred moments with her loved ones would come during their annual travels to her happy place, Aspen, CO. She will be remembered for her sharp wit, contagious laugh, endless love, architectural skill, eye for design, and her excellence as a chef. Annemarie will be deeply missed by her family, including her husband, Klaus, their children, Alex and Erika, and two loving grandchildren. She will, however, be reunited with Max, her once dear - but occasionally difficult - Westie dog. In lieu of gifts or flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to JDRF.
