I met Mr. Perrone in the late 50's, early 60's at Xaverian High School in Bklyn. He was a good track coach and a good man.

I wish to express my condolences to the Perrone family and to all those Stanners who knew and loved Coach. For us, under Coach Perrone's leadership, winning championships was not a stretch goal but rather an understated expectation. As Larry Brecht writes in the attached article, Coach would wear his suit at the city championships, confident of a win! To echo Tony Blaha's comment, "Just his presence at practice or at competitions motivated me to do better."

Coach Perrone was my track coach in the early 1960's at Xaverian H.S. During our brief association he left a mark on me that I was not aware of at my young age but left me stronger and better able to deal with the difficulties of life both within the context of running/track and the world at large. I went on to enjoy 62 years of dashing, running and jogging that was launched by Coach Perrone. He was a good man.

Tony was a Coach's Coach. I had the good fortune to coach with Tony both at Chaminade and Kellenberg. Tony brought his calm, dignified, very knowledgable, very competent, and caring approach to both programs, and the result was twofold: Team championships attained, and character, confidence, and memories left with literally hundreds of student-athletes he so positively impacted in so many ways over so many years.

Coach Perrone was always easy to talk with, even when he shared stories with my 5 year old son many years later. Just his presence at practice or at competitions motivated me to do better. His influence has always been with me. Thanks for sharing him with us all.

I knew Mr. Perrone as my track coach back in the early 1960s at Xaverian High School in Brooklyn. I thought a lot of him at the time and admired his gentlemanly demeanor. Please convey my condolences to his family. He was a good man.
