To the family, I would like to say THANK YOU for sharing him with the world. I am a third generation female in my immediate family who was blessed to have him as my physician. He also served about 25 other women in my family.
I always admired his dedication and love for medicine , but most importantly his patients. I watched and listened how he spoke WITH my grandmother and mother over the years, and it continued with me.
As a Certified American Sign Language, instructor, mentor and presenter, I try to model the care I witnessed from Dr. Magagnini. To this day I measure physicians to him and his standards. I always include Dr. Magagnini in my presentations for this reason .
God bless him!!

Dr. Magagnini delivered me at Long Island College Hospital almost 51 years ago, December 18, 1966. My mother must have been one of his first patients. WHile I"m sure he wouldn't have remembered her, she spoke of his warmth and compassion. My mother has recently passed and I happened to be looking at my birth certificate and decided to look up Dr. Magagnini. I did not know him but have always been aware of his grace and kindness. A lovely man and compassionate doctor. I am sure he will be sorely missed.

My heartfelt condolences to the family. Dr. Magagnini was the best doctor, truly exceptional and one of a kind. He delivered my daughter 26 years ago and was my doctor until he practiced no more. A visit to the doctor with him was like speaking to a friend who took care of you and was truly concerned about your well being. A remarkable human being. I loved him from my first visit and even after he retired from the practice. May he Rest In Peace. Rest assured the gates of Heaven are wide open for him.

Dearest Dr. Magagnini,
I was so sad to hear of your passing.
My return to Brooklyn is bittersweet knowing you are no longer my neighbor.
There is truly a void in my heart.
You were the most compassionate man I had the privilege of meeting, in 1986. You explored, explained, and performed surgery on me, all the while assuring me everything would be fine. I pray God grants you, and your family, peace. Until we meet again.
Yours Sincerely, Annette Graziadei

FROM STRANGER TO BROTHER
I met Tony when I was a 3rd year medical student at Long Island College Hospital, Brooklyn,NY, he was a complete stranger to me.
Dr. Magagnini was our Resident in OB/GYN and on our first day he brought us into the delivery room to witness a very OLD, OLD doctor deliver a baby followed by the remarks: "Now forget everything you've just seen- it was the practice of medieval medicine." He had a great sense of humor!
After graduation from medical school I was accepted into the OB/GYN program at Long Island College Hospital where Tony was an attending. He was instrumental in training me and was a particularly good surgeon. During that time Tony and his family invited my family to their summer beach house where we spent long week-ends with his wife Jessie and their kids. I still have pictures of all the kids climbing in and out of the manual sunroof of my Volkswagen beetle.
I left Brooklyn in 1967 to practice in California but Tony and I kept in touch with each other. Whenever we got to each other's coast we visited each other. We say Tony in Davis visiting Stephen, in Lake Tahoe, and Yosemite. Back east in Brooklyn and upstate New York.
Then there was a trip to Italy. Tony and I were the same age but he was in Italy in the 1940's (during the German Occupation of his country). Some of the stories he was able to tell us about his home town (where his father was mayor) wold make your hair stand on end. We drove to his home town of Senegalia, a walled city and many of the folks recognized him and loved him as if he were mayor.
When Steve called us to tell us Tony had died I cried. Yes-this total stranger I met in 1958 had become a brother to me by 2017. 59yrs of friendship is a lifetime and I will miss him.
I hope I will be able to join him when I leave this place-and we can continue our friendship and expression of brotherly love.

Dr. Magagnini delivered my 3 children and was there for me during an ectopic pregnancy and one in which I almost lost my life in my 6th month. He was the most caring and compassionate doctor I have ever had. He would take the time to explain things and always listened to your questions. There will never be another like him. Rest in peace, you were very loved.

Doctor Magagnini has known my family for years, as we lived across the street on Congress Street from him our whole lives. Not only do I remember seeing him with his bag walking down the block on his way to and from delivering babies, he also delivered my baby brother and cared for my mother when she was pregnant with me. I also had the pleasure of knowing him personally, growing up visiting my moms job, who worked for him for a number of years. I will forever be grateful to Dr. Magagnini for so many reasons. My mother ended up with a rare cancer which Doctor Magagnini treated, and consequently, eradicated, saving her life. I was also a patient of his and he taught me so much.
As a doctor he was not only the most compassionate GYN I've ever had, he also had an incredible gift for teaching and he really listened to, and soothed, his patients no matter what health or personal issues they may have been dealing with, forging a personal relationship with so many of his patients.
I for one will miss him immensely, and mourn the loss of such a astronomically talented physician, a compassionate and caring doctor, and an utter gentleman to every and anyone he knew. He will live on in the thousands of children he delivered, the thousands of lives he saved, and the thousands of hearts he touched. My condolences to his family and all who knew and loved him. Rest in Peace Dr. Magagnini, and thank you for always being there for so many.

Dr. Magagnini brought me into this world, and was a friend & guiding light for many years thereafter. Father of my dear life-long friend Miranda, many a delicious Italian meal (with great wine!) was enjoyed at the Magagnini table, both in Brooklyn and in Ostra Vetere. Dr. Magagnini always treated me with kindness, humor, and compassion. He will be missed. R.I.P Professore.
