We extend our deepest sympathies to Arthur's loving family. We had the privilege to know Arthur and his family through our dear friends Marti, Arthur's daughter, and her husband Carl. Dr Feinberg was such a major influence in my family's life that even 35 years after the death of my parents, my sister in law's sister in Denver recognized the name in the NY Times and informed me here in San Antonio of his death. I feel as if I have lost a friend and mentor. He was the epitome of the kind physician, and I can picture him in my mind now--walking onto the 4th floor of North Shore Hospital to do rounds- the sweet smile and gentle disposition. I am now a hospice nurse and owe that in large part to him.

The Messinger family wishes to express its deepest sorrow at the loss of a long, long time friend, advocate and physician unlike no other. From the joys of a vacation in Florida in the 1950's to his help and guidance when Dr. William Messinger his mentor and dearest friend succumbed to cardiovascular disease himself. Dr. Arthur Feinberg set an example of how to live, treat our fellow man and do it with unending compassion. We are so happy he became a part of our lives.
