ARTHUR WOLINTZ Obituary

WOLINTZ--Arthur, M.D. SUNY Downstate Medical Center mourns the passing of Arthur Wolintz, M.D., distinguished teaching professor of ophthalmology. For many years, Dr. Wolintz served with distinction as chair of ophthalmology, a department he established. He was instrumental in helping to develop neuro-ophthalmology as a subspecialty. He will be especially remembered for his deep commitment to students and to the Downstate College of Medicine Alumni Association. A 1962 summa cum laude graduate from Downstate, he had a distinguished career of scholarship and was the recipient of many honors. He was awarded the rank of SUNY distinguished teaching professor in 1995, the highest SUNY honor for an academician. A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, August 24, at the Flatbush Jewish Center, 327 East 5th Street, Brooklyn. We extend our deepest condolences to Dr. Wolintz's wife, Carol, his daughters Robyn and Ellen, and other family members and friends. John C. LaRosa, MD President Ian L. Taylor, MD, PhD Dean of the College of Medicine Douglas R. Lazzaro, MD Chair of Ophthalmology
