Barbara was a long-time supporter of the nonprofit organization I head -- the International Foundation for Art Research (IFAR). But over the years, I was fortunate to get to know her -- to have lunch with her and speak with her on many occasions. So to me, she was far more than a sympathetic supporter, she became a friend -- a gracious, interesting, generous, and thoughtful friend. I will miss her, and send my sincere condolences to her family and her many other friends.

Barbara was a woman of exquisite taste, questioning mind and always marvelous company. She was a loved and loving "Mother" to "her girls", her pets and many friends. Her very strong self of sense was an inspiration to many.

Barbara's laughter lives on in my memory. Memories of going to a Cuban restaurant in Miami, and then to listen to the Lebeck sisters, tickets to the Miami Ballet, Krishna Das, and the pure joy she brought to being with her. A lovely friend.

When we learned of your passing while in Greece, candles were lit for you in little monasteries on Rhodes that you would've love.
We toast you and cherish memories of many great meals shared with you.

I enjoyed delivering to Barbra for the last 13 years in Northeast Harbor. As brief as our visits were, she always greeted me with her lively smile. I had the pleasure of meeting her daughter, Lindsley and her sister, Jocelyn and Barbra just beamed as she introduced us. She did a great job on her rescue shepherd who was skidish towards men, but quickly learned to come to me for a dog biscuit! I was shocked to hear of her passing and will greatly miss her presence on my route. Keith ~ Fedex BGR

Barbara allowed me to work with her dogs, Driggs and Britta. She reflected her appreciation with them by saying "Thank You' for any completed task. I have thought of her, saying this to her 'fur-kids' often since hearing of her passing. I think it'll be a good habit to carry on. Thank You, Barbara. God Speed, Dear Lady.

I will always remember Barbara's bright smile, infectious laugh, and sense of style... and all that she did for "the girls." She will be sorely missed!
