BARBARA SMITH Obituary

SMITH--Barbara E., (nee Herlands), 82, devoted wife to Myron z'l, cherished mother of Jeffrey (Sandra) Stephen and Raquel (Steve), sister to Jonathan (Rachel) Herlands. Adored grandmother to Leanna, Ethan, Alex, Josie and Jack. The light has gone out of our lives; all around us there is darkness. No kinder, sweeter, wittier, more giving, more loving soul ever walked this earth, affecting more people than did our beloved Mom. Her face would light up a room and set everyone there at ease. A wordsmith, a lover of puns, a devotee of music from Porgy & Bess to the choral liturgy of her much- loved Shearith Israel. How proud we are to be her children and grandchildren. A sterling legacy that will outlive us all. Funeral at Spanish & Portuguese Synagogue, Sunday at 11am.

I miss our meetings on Broadway and in Fairway. We would share Music and Art memories. Great times from the past. Friends depart but are never forgotten, even opera house chats with Barbara and her mother.
