I know this is late, but Bella has been on my mind. I don't know if its cause I'm reading your book( Susan), but your mom was dear to me. We spent a lot of time together in her last days, she never past judgement on me as told her about my life. It became hard for me to see her lose her strength. So I slowly distanced myself. She had such a strong personality, even as she weaker. She was one of my favorites and will always be.

Susan, I know how hard it is to lose a loved one and I pray that her strength and courage will rest with you forever. From all that I have read, she was the epitome of strength and though she has crossed over, her spirit will remain amongst her beautiful daughters and her love and encouragement will resonate through you two. You have my deepest sympathy.
With love and adoration,
Jackie Craig-Bey

My dear Susan and Martha, what a tremendous loss for all of us and especially for the both of you. Bella’s courage, love, and commitment to justice made a tremendous contribution in the world. I’ll always be grateful for the opportunity of knowing Bella and spending time together both in Florida and New York. I can’t imagine walking the streets of the City or eating at a diner without Bella. With warmest regards, always.

A person of conscience, honor, and great consequence. I only had the good fortune of knowing her the last few years but we became friends. I am deeply saddened and will miss seeing her and being in her presence.
