BERNARD HOROWITZ Obituary

HOROWITZ--Bernard. A much loved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many passed away peacefully on January 5th at the age of 96 with daughter Jessica, son-in-law Andrew and granddaughter Calla at his side. He was preceded in death by his amazing wife of 67 years, Zelda. He is survived by his four children, Elizabeth, Andrew, Edward, and Jessica, their partners Joel Schwartz, Kathleen Barnes and Andrew MacCrimmon, and his seven grandchildren Connor, Dylan, Anna, Calla, Nora, Sofia and Clara. He was a child of the depression and a WWII vet, who respected education and hard work, built a successful career, and was able with Zelda to travel the world, scuba dive on nearly every continent, and celebrate his extended family - the center of his universe. He had a full life, and will be missed by many. As he passed, granddaughter Calla told him to give grandma our love. A memorial service at Three Crowns Park in Evanston, IL will be held when it is safe for all to get together. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.

Bernie worked with my dad for many years. He was also a friend to my mom at Three Crowns Plaza. I always appreciated his acuity, directness and dry wit. I'm glad I had a chance to know him.
