Paul H Daiter
October 18, 2025
I am Paul Daiter, I was 'biographer' for Bernie's older brother Joel Kovitz, helping him on his WWII memoirs, which were published as http://wwiiscrapbook.com/ in 2012, when Joel was 98 and living at the Bronx VA. I met Bernie several times over the 6 years that I met weekly with Joel. Bernie was very supportive of our project, and for that I am eternally grateful to him. Indeed I am grateful to the entire Kovitz family!
I just wanted to share a few photos of Bernie, which I got from Joel. I especially love the photo of the two brothers in their uniforms. A sincere thanks to both of them for their service!
I have posted 3 hours of interviews with Joel on YouTube, in case there are any members or friends of the Kovitz family who might be interested. Here is the link to the playlist (of 9 chapters). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P3coDUvcP4Q&list=PLr4IWOYAD7tsBtYKwykAz-TEMbf1g7NhO&pp=gAQB

I worked for Mr. Kovitz at the beginning of my career. He treated me well and fairly. I will always remember that short period of time working for him. My condolences to his family.

Although Bernie was 25 years older than me, he was
a great role model that my parents (his Aunt and Uncle
Lilly and Julius) encouraged me to follow. I was thrilled that Bernie came with his other cousin Arthur
and I to visit Wyszkow, Poland on a US government sponsored trip to see and find our common roots! Bernie was always an intelligent, kind and generous man. I will miss him dearly. May his memory be a blessing.
