BERNICE FUTTER Obituary

FUTTER--Bernice "Bunny" Grossman. With an indomitable will, a zest for living, her happy demeanor and sense of humor intact, our wonderful and devoted mother, Bernice "Bunny" Futter, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2025. Born on April 2, 1928, Bunny was the beloved daughter of Lee (Tendler) and Irving Grossman. She and her adored late brother, Jerauld "Jerry" Grossman, grew up in Belle Harbor, NY. Bunny attended Far Rockaway High School and graduated from Ohio State University with a degree in art. Upon graduation, Bunny, a gifted artist, started her own business managing all aspects of the design, copy, and placement of print advertisements for an array of department stores and clients. After 10 successful years, Bunny moved into the antiques field and then became an interior decorator. With an amazing eye, a sense of color and style, and the ability to conceptualize a new look for old furniture, Bunny created beautiful homes for clients, friends, and family. She met Berney Futter (1929 - 2024) at back-to-back weekend parties and they married in 1956 becoming the proud parents of David (Doreen), Ileana, and Jim (Michele) and the ecstatic grandparents of Alison, Lauren, Marlee, Sydney, Max, and Marissa. They were married for 68 happy years and were inseparable, traveling, skiing, enjoying art, theater, opera, classical music and all that their beloved New York City offered. Most of all, they loved spending time and making memories with their children and grandchildren, siblings and in-laws, Barbara and Jerry Grossman and Lynn and Ken Futter, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, especially in Westhampton Beach where they lived part-time for 30-plus years. Bunny will be missed and loved forever.
