This was truly an amazing person with so much talent the loss is clearly ours. Sure am going to miss Bess, I read or heard, she was the first Jewish Miss America. Pretty interesting! She was always nice looking, and grace under fire, and, like the rest of us, had opinions of her own, whether anybody agreed with her, or not. She will be terribly missed, but never forgotten. Loved her on

The family has lost their love one and the world has lost a beautiful lady. Bess was a true example of what a Ms. America should be. She was very personable and had a dazzling smile whenever she appeared on tv. May her daughter and granddaughter have peace at this sad time. An Admirer

I worked at consumer affairs with Simon Lazarus while Bess was the Commissioner. Never was there a finer boss. She was a true feminist and treated eveyone with respect. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.

You lived such a fascinating,productive,and long life. I didn't know that you lived in Santa Monica during your later years. I wish that I had an opportunity to meet you.
My late brother in law John Rexford was a classmate and friend of your former boss Mayor John Lindsay. They remained lifelong friends after their years together at St. Paul's School in Concord New Hampshire. The world is a better place because of your life. You will never be forgotten.
