BRIDGET LYONS Obituary

LYONS--Bridget Gellert. Bridget passed away on May 8 at age 90. Born in Prague, she is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Bob, her brothers Robert and Donald, her sisters-in-law Rosa and Elaine, many nephews and nieces, and countless devoted friends. She was predeceased by her parents Leopold and Marianne, her sister Elinor and her brother Max. She graduated from Radcliffe (Harvard), and received an MPhil from Oxford and a PhD from Columbia. She had a distinguished career at Rutgers as a Professor of English and Associate Dean of Humanities, and was the longtime editor of Renaissance Quarterly. Her passion, her joy and her wit will be sorely missed. Details of a memorial service will be announced at a later date.
