CARL STERN

STERN--Carl. Carl Stern, husband to Miriam, father to Edna Purjes and David Stern, father-in-law to Debbie Medvene Stern and Dan Purjes, grandfather to Jenna Axelrod, Josh Stern and Matthew Stern passed away from natural causes on April 27, 2021, at the age of 93. Carl was born January 13, 1928 in Neider-Ohmen, outside of Frankfurt, Germany. He immigrated to the Bronx in 1936 at the age of eight. After serving in the US Army, Carl earned a CPA from Pace University. He was married for 63 years and raised his family in Queens. In 1986, Carl left his successful accounting practice to join his wife and daughter's wall covering business, Jolie Papier. For the past 20 years Carl was a resident of the Upper West Side and member of B'nai Jeshurun synagogue. Carl is remembered as his family's patriarch, always there with guidance, friendship, and support for his loved ones a truly great man.
