It is a long time since Carla lived in the same house in London as me. I still think of her especially when the flat she rented changes hands which has just happened after another lovely young woman left to return to her family for support because she has long COVID. I hope the pain of Carla´s loss has been replaced by the happy memories. And the fact she lives on in mine too, might comfort you, her family and friends.
Warm thoughts to you all

Ciao Carla!

I was just looking up Carla in FB and was so shocked to see that she had passed. We worked on the Brokaw Reports together during my first job at NBC News. I've often thought of Carla over the years. She was so smart, proper and lovable...I am truly sad to hear this news. I pray she did not suffer and will always think of her with a smile. Rest in peace, dear, sweet Carla. Too young, too soon. God Bless.

It will be six years in February since my dear neighbor Carla left the world too soon. I'm sorry for this loss to the world of people who had the privilege to be with her. I'm sorry now, as her Dad has left the world as well. Words are failing me. I adored her, as her babysitter, and as her older friend. She was shy, and very smart and beautiful. Her mother and father love her very much. Their home, across the street from mine, in what had previously been a walnut tree orchard, had a secret, sacred, paradise of a garden, with extraordinary plants, trees, and footpaths, and their house was designed like nothing I'd ever seen before. I'm amazed to read about her life after leaving that home, and all her wonderful contributions through her work. She is very dearly missed. May her soul rest in eternity, bliss, and knowlege. May she never suffer ever again.
My dear Carla Marcus, so angelical and sweet,
You fill my heart with treasured memories so kind.
It is a world less pure and soft on our old street,
And now we live there only in mind.

I went to High School with Carla in Sacramento. She was one of my sisters best friends. I remember her very well. She had a sophistication, style, and grace that was so unique. My heart goes out to her husband, family and friends.

Whenver I think of Italy: sunflowers, wine, Via Quadranno, or its song-like language, I will think of Carla. I feel so lucky to have counted her among my friends, to have listened to her detailed and colorful stories of people and places, and to have seen her so happy with Sean. I will miss her very much.

Carla lived in the same house here in London as me. We did not see much of each other because she travelled so much and was so often not around but we became friends and after she had left her London posting, we met up in New York when I was there at this time of year for the Commission on the Status of Women which she wanted to hear about. Just a few short years ago. I feel so shocked.
My condolences to her husband, family colleagues and friends.

Carla had been and still is a role model for me both as a friend and as a journalist. I will miss her more than words can describe and my memories of her will always be in my heart.

I was shocked to receive this news. Carla and I were roommates during our Senior Year at Cal. I had a great time with her in our African trip and always enjoyed spending time with her. My thoughts and prayers go to Sean and her parents. I hope you're able to find some comfort.

Carla was a gracious person who operated with a calm in a business of chaos plus with humility style and professionalism and was always a pleasure to work with. Much Love and Blessing to her family. Antonio Richardson-NBC News

Carla and I were pledge sisters in our sorority at Cal back in 1982. I remember a fabulous vacation to Zimbabwe with her, drinking golden bears with her at henry's after my graduation, taking her to her first Grateful Dead concert and how she took time out of her incredibly busy schedule in summer 2010 to travel to DC and back from NY in one day to meet my son and see me before I headed out on my current overseas assignment. I am shocked. How can she be gone? Last I heard she had anemia but I had no idea she had gotten so sick. Sean, hope you find the strength to get through this. To her parents, I can't imagine your loss.

I met Carla 16 years ago when we worked together on an ABC News project, and she's been a dear friend and colleague ever since. I can't believe that she's been taken from us so soon. To Carla's parents - thank you so much for bringing such a wonderful person into our lives. She will never, ever be forgotten.

I am so very sorry to read this news today, and offer my deepest condolences to Carla's family. We became friends during summer school in London decades ago and managed to keep in touch through marriage and career changes over the years. Words are failing me..so heartbroken by this.
