CATHERINE HARLEY Obituary

HARLEY--Catherine E. Chi Chi (Catherine E.) of New York City, of breast cancer, October 2, peacefully at home with husband John Ryan by her side. Chi Chi loved her native Brooklyn and celebrated life in her love of cooking, gardening, animals and the arts. A strongly independent woman whose radiance was felt by all the many lives she touched. While thoughtful and kind, she was armed with a sharp sense of humor and did not suffer fools. She freely expressed her opinions, taking action in the causes she believed in. Her trademark smile in good times and bad will endure in the hearts of her loving family and friends. Funeral services, Monday, October 7 at 12 noon Riverside Chapel, 1895 Flatbush Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11210. Donations to dedicate a Magnolia Tree in tribute to Chi Chi can be made online to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden (http://www.bbg.org/support).

John,
I am truly sorry to hear about my cousin's passing. She left this world way too soon. Not only did she have a great smile and looks, she had a wonderful sense of humor. The sadness that we all feel about Chi Chi leaving us is somewhat helped by knowing that she is in Heaven with her brothers Matthew and Mark.
My sincere condolences.

Dear John,
My name is Chris Mulcahy Wurster and I am Chi Chi's first cousin from Troy. My father was Chi Chi's Uncle Buster. I am writing to send sincere and heartfelt condolences to you on your loss. I think I only met Chi Chi twice-once at my wedding in 1972 and then again at Tim' s wedding. Although I didn't know her, I'm sure I would have liked Chi Chi a lot. My daughter Erin visited you and Chi Chi at your home once with Peggy and Joe and remembers this visit very fondly. Again, I send my sympathy to you.

John, there is nothing I can say that will lessen the pain yo have over the loss of this special woman Chi Chi. She was so welcoming to me as I spent time with her during "Small Claims" aka by Chi Chi as "Small Brains." From my family to you I offer the peace of Christ. Leo J. Jordan
