CHARLES BEIRNE

BEIRNE--Rev. Charles, SJ (72), Jesuit educator died on July 14, 2010 at the Jesuit Infirmary on the Fordham campus. Father Beirne was ordained in 1969 and served at Regis High School (Headmaster), Colegio San Ignacio in Puerto Rico (Principal), University of Rafael Landivar (Academic Vice President), Le Moyne College (President) and most recently Fordham University (Visiting Professor). He held a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago and was the recipient of four honorary degrees. The Vigil Service will be Friday, July 23 at 7-9pm in O'Keefe Commons on the Fordham Rosehill campus. The Mass of Resurrection will be the following day at the Fordham University Church at 10am. He is survived by his Jesuit community and sisters, Maureen Beirne Streff and Eileen Hart, and brother Tom and their families.
