Rest in Peace Charlie
My condolences to the Moutenot family and his Jesuit family.
I met Charlie during his time in Toronto. we had many cups of tea together; a few pizzas; lots of French fries. Charlie made a difference in my life and my family. I am blessed to have been a small part of his life Charlie, you will be missed but never forgotten.

I'm a friend of Charlie's from Portland. We would climb and attend yoga classes at the Portland Rock Gym. He was one of nicest people I've ever met, and I had hoped that he would be able to meet my and my wife's baby boy.

I can't say that I knew him as well as I would've liked, but I do know this: Charlie could do one heck of a head-stand in yoga class, and every single one of us were jealous.

Rest in Peace, good buddy.

Sending deep condolences to the Moutenot family on the passing of their brother, "Lee", Fr. Charles Moutenot, S.J. Sympathy is also extended to Lee's many friends, Jesuit colleagues and the many people whose lives were enriched simply by knowing him.

Lee was a life-long friend and a valued spiritual advisor, someone who I will always hold in the highest admiration. Lee's life is a compelling testimony to God's work in our world and His love for all of us.

I first knew Lee as a childhood friend who shared the many experiences available to us growing up in our home town. Then, Lee was a high school classmate and, subsequent to his commitment to the Society of Jesus, a compassionate and encouraging spiritual advisor.

As "kids" Lee and I delivered the morning newspaper and often served together as alter boys, usually the 6:15 a.m. Mass. Then, after high school, life happened and we fell out of touch until Lee enlisted in the U.S. Army. Lee's courageous and loyal service as a helicopter pilot in Vietnam bolstered the deep admiration I held for my friend. His letters to me in the midst of war remain precious memories of a life lived so well.

Soon after his return from Vietnam I was surprised when Lee shared that God had called him to become a Jesuit. Today, and over all these years, I rejoice in Lee's decision to respond to God's calling. What came as no surprise was his advocacy spirit and focus on social change to which he committed to in the service of God and his fellow man, all of them. Fr. Charles lived his truth. He crossed picket lines and spoke God's ultimate truth in the face of power and adversity. That's the Fr. Charles/Lee I loved and admired.

I will forever be indebted to Fr. Charles Moutenot, S.J for his friendship and his compassionate spiritual counsel in the midst of loss. Lee made my life better for having him in it.

Lee, God bless you my friend on a life well-lived. May you enjoy the eternal unsurpassed peace that God has promised to His good and faithful servants. I will miss you!
