Charles Stanley Obituary

STANLEY-Charles J., AKA Carlo Pittore. My dearest brother lived his life as he chose...to be a true and honest artist. He lived his life to its fullest-just not long enough. His wish was for all to appreciate his art. It was what he worked for and lived for. Art was his life. His inspiration came from not only learning from the masters, but from teaching his students. I shall remember my brother for his love of life, his true gratefulness for life, his art, and the wonderful love that he gave to his family and friends. Rest in peace, my dear brother. With love forever, Marion and Elliott

It was an honor to have modeled for such a talented artist, and an even greater honor to have been called his friend. He was a man who possessed a rare depth of character that made him seem larger than life. Death cannot contain his spirit: it lives on in his friends and in his art.

I have known many artists nominally more famous and more successful than Carlo, but I have never known anyone who held the calling of artist in higher esteem or who did it greater honor. Peace, dear Carlo. Peace.

How wild and wonderful was Carlo, how infectious his zest for life, and with what pleasure he plucked fresh basil and tomatoes from his garden to make us "Greek eggs"! A dear, unique person never to be forgotten.

I will dearly miss Carlo, his laugh, and all his exclamation points.

I remember Charles both from groowing up first in Lynbrook and then in Port Washington, but mostly I remember visiting andstyaing with him in Italy. He was a warm and gracious host and helped me to see the art around me in a way that no one else could have done. He shared his passion and his enthusiasm in a way that was truly infectious. He will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Most of my memories of Charles go back to our childhood when he would come to visit his cousins in Easton, PA. I was the youngest cousin and Charles was always so kind and attentive and full of fun. I can not remember a day when he didn't have a wonderful smile and the biggest laugh I had ever heard. I will miss him but always remember those wonderful days of our youth and that laugh that always made me feel so safe and happy.
