Cheryl Osborne Obituary

OSBORNE--Cheryl Archibald, died peacefully at home on November 10, 2008 after a long battle with cancer. She was 71. She is survived by her husband Richard de J. Osborne, retired Chairman and Chief Executive officer of ASARCO Incorporated and by her daughters, Leslie Coleman of Rye, New York and Lindsay Vogel of Yardley, Pennsylvania; her sons Nicholas of Woodside, California and Stanley of New York City, her daughters-and sonsin-law, and her eleven grandchildren. Born in New York City, Cheryl was a graduate of Marymount School and Marymount Manhattan College. She enjoyed a successful early career as a model and actress, appearing in the movie "Cover Girl" and the Broadway musical "Love Life". More recently, she worked as a volunteer in the American Wing of The Metropolitan Museum of Art. She served as a Trustee of Crystal Springs School in Hillsborough, California, Princeton Day School in Princeton, New Jersey and Marymount Manhattan College in New York City. She lived in New York City, Little Compton, Rhode Island and Vero Beach, Florida. Cheryl was dearly loved by her friends and family for whom her humor, kindness and love of life are an inspiration. She will be deeply missed by her husband of fifty-one years, children and grandchildren. A memorial service is planned for 11:00am on November 17th at Church of the Heavenly Rest, 2 East 90th Street in New York City. Memorial contributions may be made to Anne Moore Breast Cancer Research Fund, Weill Cornell Medical Center, Box 123, 1300 York Avenue, New York, NY 10021.
