Christopher Capaci Obituary

Christopher Capaci, Chris, passed away unexpectedly at 39 years old on June 23rd, 2021 in his home in Manhattan, New York. He was born in Ridgewood, New Jersey on December 23rd, 1981 to Salvatore Capaci III and Carolyn (Bonpietro) Morse. He grew up in Bloomingburg, New York with his three siblings, Niki, Layla, and Benjamin Capaci; and, graduated from Pine Bush High School in 2000. He furthered his education at SUNY New Paltz, graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science with a minor in Mathematics, both with honors in 2005. He was married to Chaundra (Passehl) Capaci on October 3rd, 2014 in New Paltz, New York. Chris took great pride in his work as a Senior Software Engineer and was most recently employed by Wolters Kluwer, working on digital medical publication software. Chris was a sports enthusiast, and he followed the New York Rangers and New York Yankees; and, had season tickets to the New York City Football Club matches. Growing up, his favorite sports to play were baseball and ice hockey. He continued to play on recreational softball teams while living in San Diego, California and San Francisco, California. He had a competitive nature and could be heard yelling "do it for the hoodie" from his position at short stop. He also enjoyed playing video games and reading sci-fi/fantasy novels. Chris had an infectious laugh that was one of a kind. Of his greatest attributes was his ability to love deeply and unconditionally. His love language was acts of service, and he could be counted on by his friends and family to help in any manner. Prior to his passing, he spent a lot of his free time preparing for the birth of his son- building a crib, a dresser, and assembling various play items. He is survived by his wife, Chaundra, and his newborn son, Silas "Silly" Christopher Capaci, residing in Manhattan, New York. Additionally, he is survived by his father, Sal Capaci III; mother and stepfather, Carolyn (Bonpietro) and Robert Morse; his siblings Niki, Layla, and Ben Capaci; several nieces and nephews; and, his paternal grandmother, Mary Bonita (Greening) Mann. He is predeceased by his brother, Salvatore Capaci IV, his paternal grandfather, Salvatore Capaci II, and his maternal grandparents, Daniel and Dolores (King) Bonpietro. Given the COVID 19 pandemic, Chris's family will be holding a small private memorial event at his mother's home in Wurtsboro, New York on Sunday, July 18th, 2021. Chris's wife would like to thank his colleagues at Wolters Kluwer and her colleagues from Sharp Mary Birch Hospital for Women and Newborns, Lucile Packard Children's Hospital, Hackensack University Medical Center, and New York Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital for their support and generosity during this difficult time.

We had met Chris a few times at family occasions in the past. He was a likable guy, easy to make friends with. He adored his nieces & nephew's (our grandchildren) & spent time with them often. They will surely miss him, as we all will! He was all about family and will forevermore smile down on Silas. Rest in Eternal Peace,Chris!
