Thought of you today Claire as I have so so many times. You supported me and helped me grow as a person. You were never judgmental or doubtful but always supportive and inquisitive. I felt awfully sad today and your voice rang in my mind- "You can do this Angelique, it is ok to cry. You give so much to others, you can take for yourself also. You can do this". So I sat for a bit, and just thought of you and the light you were in my life. I thought of the stories you would share with me about your sister and bringing her the silver rings, about your godsons and how much joy they gave you. Then I thought about Sarah your little cat, or as you called her Sarasita who was lost and spent the entire winter alone outdoors. Then she was found and you rescued her, with her frostbitten ears and extra toes on her paws, you used to say she was perfectly imperfect. You adored her and she clearly adored you. Your soul was a beautiful one my dear Claire and I know your spirit lives on in so many lives you touched. Thought of you today as I often do. Lucky to have met you, sweet Claire.

On 12/27/2021, it will be 10 years since we lost Claire. Claire was my best friend for many years. She was the godmother and good friend of my sons.

Everyday I benefit from the gifts she shared with me. Her loving and caring nature as well as her example of tolerance and acceptance of the different beliefs, lifestyles, and natures of those whose lives she touched inspire me to emulate her. This season she would be especially joyous to meet Daniel and Suchi's daughter Arushi Dwarka Gottlieb Mathur. She would be enthralled with her as she was with Daniel and Michael.
Thank You Claire
Always, Esther

I remember your visits to Lynbrook over the holidays for family get togethers and going to your apartment in the Bronx with your family many years ago.

Dear Claire,
I think of you everyday and everyday I have something to tell you and I know you would share my puzzlement, amusement, and joy. Over 35 years you taught me many things and gave unstintingly of yourself to me and my boys. The boys miss you terribly and we talk about our sadness but more often lately we smile when speaking of you and thank you and your kind, generous spirit for all that you shared and gave to us and to so many others.

You live on in our hearts and just yesterday Daniel and I talked about honoring you by striving to become as kind, understanding, and generous as you.

With All Our Love, Esther, Daniel, and Michael.

Claire will always hold a special place in my heart. Over 25 years Claire provided support, care and concern during dificult and challenging times. She found good in me, she helped me to laugh at my family's and my own shortcomings. She helped me to grow personally and professionally. Claire was an angel who's voice will always remain in my head. "You're a strong woman. You can handle it ", she would say. I will miss you Claire. Thank you for the hugs on the darkest of days. I was blessed to have had you in my life. Que descanse en paz.

Claire and I were close friends for the past 41 years and I miss her very much. Even though we were 3,000 miles apart for most of that time, we always had time for each other, either by phone or in person. It felt as if the distance didn't matter. Claire was special and she touched many lives with her empathy, love and kindness. It made me so happy to spend time with her this past November, and to reminisce about our past. Our last conversation was one week before she died and Claire was happy and bubbly. I saw her call as a gift she gave to Pat and me. Claire was a force for goodness in life and everyone she touched was better for it. I believe her spirit lives somewhere in the universe and Claire will live in my heart always.

I had known Claire for 18 years. She was an extraordinary person and was there for me always. I am so very sad to not have her here any more, but will always hear her voice ...
I am very lucky and blessed to have had her in my life.

I like the image of the candle and its light because Claire was a light in my life - that will never go dim. I came to know her in the 70's when Rosemarie and I first got together and over time and through intimate conversation that only she could elicit, Claire and I became good friends and shared many happy hours, days and weeks together over the years. We shared a love of Cape Cod, good hamburgers, and silver jewelry among many other things, and she always generously gifted me with little things she would find in her many travels...things that I will treasure forever. I will also treasure the memory of how happy she was that we could tour Brazil together a few years ago and how encouraging she was about putting the trip together. And I will never forget how she praised my photography and always egged me on to better, more creative shots or better writing. That was Claire: always giving, always caring, always helping, always with sage words. I feel that Claire's spirit is part of me that I will carry with me til it is my turn to depart. Maybe then we will meet again because I still have lots to say to her because I know I will be ever grateful that good ole Claire was a part of my life.
Claire, I love you as I always have and I miss your "inquiring mind" and hearty laugh!

Claire was ever there for me, she helped me through tough times, she rejoiced at my accomplishments, she always emanated loving concern. I shall ever be thankful that she was a part of my life. She was one of a kind.
