Sorry, I didn't know Claire passed. A google search led me here. I am a former student and wanted Mrs. D to know that a dessert recipe from her class (nut cups) is still being used and loved by all who try them. Everyone asks for the recipe. They're a favorite of many and my daughter and her friends make them too.

Claire was my home economics teacher in West Hempstead High. She taught the class how to sing Happy Birthday with a German accent. I used to imitate her all the time just to make the class laugh. Claire also invited the whole class to her home for a get together. She was the only teacher that ever extended an invitation to her home. I got married in 1974 at my small town church and to my surprise as I was walking down the aisle after getting married I saw Claire. This is a picture showing how surprised I was. She was the best teacher and she was so loved. I will always have the best memories of her class and of course Claire.

It is with great sadness that we have received the news that Claire Dorogusker has passed away. She was born in 1930 in Dörnigheim near Frankfurt am Main. In order to escape the National Socialist rule in Germany, she emigrated with her parents to the USA in 1934.
In 1997, at the invitation of the city of Maintal, she returned to the place of her early childhood. We are grateful to know Claire at this time as a worthy and impressive personality. We mourn with Ben and her entire family.
