Clara's dedication and tenacity helped build one of the great non-profit housing providers of this city. SHF became a model for a multitude of organizations that followed her lead.

Clara was an inspiration and powerful force in the affordable and assisted housing arenas. From Coney Island to the Bronx her legacy to New Yorkers and others continues to be a presence. I had the privilege of being recruited by Clara to serve on the Board and as Treasurer of SHF for over a quarter of a century. She asked that I chair her retirement party which she insisted be a fund raising event for SHF, in Clara's typical determined and generous way. She was truly one of a kind.
