I met Dan eons ago when he met his first wife, the ceramicist, Lidya Buzio. I vaguely remember Lidya sharing a studio with artist Bill Nolan, while she lived in the apartment underneath mine. If my memory serves me well, Lidya had opera on the radio one day, and that´s what caught Dan´s attention. He loved the opera! Shortly after, I heard he had closed his jewelry company and became the director of the Cecilia deTorres Gallery. There I would see him at least once a week. He was always cheerful, and helpful. besides being innovative and at times a bit of a dare devil. In Long Island- a large barbecue, and the women would prepare the extras. Lydia got sick and died. We were all devastated, but especially Dan of course. Life goes on however. ...Years later, last summer, in London, to my surprise he shows up with sculptor Marta Chilindron. Dan invited us to a lovely lunch, where we all caught up with each other and where Dan seemed very happy and well. Almost a year later when Dan no longer returned my occasional email, I felt something might be amiss. ...And then the horrible dreaded news that he was very sick. He will be missed by many, -and me.
My sincere and deepest condolence to all who were close to him.

PS: Some time back, I found out that we both had a Viennese parent who fled Vienna; Dan´s father to the United States earlier, and my mother to India after Anschluss.

I knew Dan through my dear friend Marta Chilindron, his beloved and devoted partner. I know about his generosity, intelligence, sofisticación and talent. He will be missed greatly.
My deepest condolences to his family and friends.

When not discussing some nuance of late works by Jose Gurvich (one of his favorites) or the ceramics of Lydia Buzios, Dan could be found acrobatically adjusting light fixtures atop a 20 foot ladder. On occasion I saw him do both at once.
With the temperament of a diplomat, and a can-do attitude, things always seemed to work out when Dan was around (though perhaps just in the nick of time...).
A good and generous friend, I knew I could always count on him.
I will miss you, Dan...
My condolences to his friends and family.

Dan not only launched my art into the art world, he was always there and ready to find a solution when I needed him. Unforgettable Dan
