Dr. Bernstein, another year has passed and not having you as my treating pain management doctor continues to be a life of hell. Words cannot express enough how much I truly miss our visits, talks , conversations and our friendship. I miss your smile, jokes, never ending support, sincere kindness, dedication and caring. I miss your eagerness to always try something to help someone like me dealing with excruciating pain and discomfort. You gave me hope, strength and comfort that I will never forget. You were truly one of a kind and I will never forget you as long as I am on this planet. Thanks Doc for taking care of me, sharing a family story, quick joke, with your infectious smile that made us always feel extremely welcomed, truly cared about, appreciated and loved. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being the absolute best doctor on this planet with a heart of Gold that would take the shirt off his back to help someone stay warm or comfortable. You were truly a gift from God and I was blessed to have you in my life as long as I did. I am truly sorry that you were taken suddenly and left behind a beautiful wife, two loving boys and thousands of patients that truly loved you and cared about you. Thank you and God Bless You Dr. Bernstein.

It´s been six long years since you passed and no matter how hard I try to be positive and believe that you are in a much better place and that you are no longer suffering, I can´t. I´ve tried to find another pain management doctor and so far I´ve been through three because none of them compared to you. They don´t have your gift, or your outgoing personality. They certainly don´t care about patients like you did. I´ve said it before and I´ll say it again Dr. B, when you were born they broke the mold of perfection and no one can ever fit the mold or take your place and that´s a fact. You were truly wonderful and I still miss our talks and hearing your stories and all the laughs we shared. I´ve never had such a great relationship with a doctor who became my friend and remained my friend to the very end. You will never be forgotten.

Wow, I still can´t believe that in two months it will be 5 years that I lost my very dear friend, and Doctor . Not a day goes by that I don´t think about you Dr. B, and words can not express how much you are truly missed and loved. It´s extremely hard to have faith when I think about you my, friend and how extremely kind, and caring you were. Let me also add how truly devoted you were to us as patients suffering. You performed everything humanly possible to try and help us and relieve our pain, even while you were suffering yourself. You were one of a kind, and truly GREAT and deserved much better care and treatment from above. You were
taken far too early and I am truly sorry about that. I wish that I had the power to heal you first and keep you here forever because you were an extraordinary man.
I miss your smile that lit up the exam room, I miss your stories about your boys and I miss your jokes that made me smile. Most importantly I miss my dear friend and always will. I have not smiled since you left us and I certainly have not felt better and probably never will without you in my life

Here it is in 2021 (almost 2022) and I am talking to my med student daughter about the most amazing doctor I ever had. I hope his family is well and knows he adored them. HD was miracle for me. I have never found anyone with his skill, humor and compassion.

It’s unbelievable that four years has passed since you left us to be by Gods side. He obviously recognized the great asset you were and all the great things you’ve done to help those in need. I never thought or believed that I would lose such an extraordinary man, friend and doctor. It’s been a really rough time without you and words can not express enough how terribly I feel trying to cope with your loss. There will never be another Dan Brietstein, when you were cast that mold was trashed. You were unique and a one shot deal. There is no one out there that can replace you. You were my doctor, and became my friend but honestly you felt more like family to my wife, boys and I. I can’t thank you enough for taking over my wife’s care, and referring her to a spine specialist after her first doctor screwed up her spine surgery drastically. I can not thank you enough for all the years you took care of me and all the treatments you tried to help me. My only wish was that God gave you more time here to finish all the great work you started You will never know how much you were loved and missed pal.

We sit here and think about you all the time and wonder what if Dr. B was still here and what he would have done to help us because there is not another doctor like
Dr. Brietstein. God knows we’ve tried to find one and the bottomline is that when God created you, he immediately broke the mold because he knew you were the chosen one. There is not another doctor out there that has your heart, mind, compassion, skill and sense of humor or your smile. We miss the way that you walked into the exam room and hugged us and made us feel special. No matter how rotten or depressed we actually were or felt, the minute we saw you everything changed because you had that special gift and that loving touch and that genuine care and concern for your patients. I miss our email conversations and wish that if we could have had just one more that we could share all of our heartfelt love for you and all those wonderful memories and all those laughs you gave us. We miss your jokes, and all the stories about your boys, that your eyes would light up and your face would glow with pride as you talked about them. You will never know just how much your were loved, and missed or how truly you were appreciated for all the things you’ve done to help your patients suffering from chronic pain. We
never thought or imagined that we would lose our dear friend, who was truly a gift, and a blessing from God. You will never be forgotten
Dr. Brietstein, as long as I’m able to remember, see and type. God Bless You pal and your immediate family and ProHealth Family, Goldie.

It all started in 2004 when my back went haywire and after countless doctors DR B came to the rescue. He gave me a facet block that lasted a year or so and after many many more appointments the running joke at Pro Health was here is Ken Cullen again another injection! Anyhow, had a few surgeries since then but the relationship I had with such a great guy its hard to imagine hes gone from us. He would call me on Sundays stop me from going to the ER AND overall made me a better person. Hes one of a kind and I miss our phone calls. DR B. YOUR THE BEST. KEN CULLEN

Another year has passed Dr. B and honestly the pain, heartache and sorrow they say will get better with time but it never has, You will always be in our thoughts, memories and prayers because you meant that very much to us. You were not just our doctor but our dear friend and often felt like you were part of our family. Not once during all the years my wife and I were your patients did you ever enter the examination room without a great smile, funny joke or a story about your boys. You made us laugh, you made us cry and you tried everything humanly possibly to help to ease our pain so we could live a better life, but without you in it, life is just not the same anymore. Since your passing Ive been forced to find another doctor, and regrettably there is no one out there that can will replace you, in mind, body and spirit. You were one of a kind. You were truly caring and extremely dedicated and wanted to help ease your patients pain and suffering. You were an asset to the profession and you can never be replaced or forgotten because you were that very special and that damn good. Rest In Peace pal and God Bless you and your family Dr. Brietstein.

We miss your great stories, laughs we shared and your sincere kindness, heart and willingness and dedication to do what ever it takes to try and help relieve our pain. You were an asset, and a treasure to the profession and there is no one out there that can or will ever be like you or take your place. You were a great friend, an excellent doctor an Im sure a wonderful mentor to many other doctors but no one will ever be Dr. B. You are truly appreciated and sadly missed a great deal. Dr. Brietstein was more than a acquaintance, he was my pain management Anesthesiologist who cared for me in the late 1990's, along with Dr. Brian Hainline of Pro Health. I am shocked to hear of his untimely passing . Not only was he talented in his medical field , but kind, caring ,considerate, with a great sense of humor. He was administering epidural injections at Elmhurst General Hospital, when I flat lined. He brought me back and saved my life. He was so genuinely worried about my well being. He wanted to keep me overnight. I joked with him saying "No way!! You guys already lost me once today, I'm outta here" , We both laughed. About a week or so later we repeated the procedure without a hitch. I had been overseas for awhile and tried to schedule a appointment with him, and this is how I learned of his death. We were close in age and shared a very similar sense of humor. This great man is setting the table , in a far better place, awaiting our arrival. " God Speed Dr. Brietstein"

I found out today when I arrived for my appointment that Dr. Brietstein had passed away in May. The tears have not stopped since I saw the memorial sign in the office. Dr. B was the only one who knew immediately what my problem was and gave my life back to me with his skill and compassionate care. He truly made you feel as though he knew your pain and was determined to make it better. He is the reason I am able to walk, work and enjoy my family. We shared stories and photos of our children growing up. He was so proud of his boys. Dr. B will be missed. He will have a special place in my heart always.
May happy memories bring peace to the hearts of family and friends.

I looked you up today. I didn't know you were gone. Your compassion and presence are something the medical field will dearly miss.
15 years ago I wasn't doing well. I didn't think things were going to end well for me. The pain and the stress I was dealing with. I was a young adult dealing with nerve damage that was changing my life for the worst.
Because of you, that all changed. You pushed hard and always had my best interest in mind.
I'm married now, with a son and doing as well as I could be doing, and that's because of the time you took to help me.
Thank you Doc. You are missed.

I meet Dr. B in ProHealth about 12 years ago as one of his staff and ever since then he had my back and I always had his. He was a great man who loved his White Castle lol. He always took care of his patients and had a big heart. Dr. B always talked about his boys and showed me pics of them when they were in camp or them just hanging out in some event they went to over the weekend. Every time he talked about them he would have one of the biggest smile on his face. He always gave me great advise and only wanted better things for me and for that I thank you Dr. B. I will miss you Danwich and all the other food you made try lol. I miss you Dr. B and I will never forget you. You are one of a kind and there will never be another Dr. B. Till we meet again. Love you Dr. B. RIP.

Dr. Brietstein of Dr. "B" as I called him was "one in a million." He was my pain management doctor through three spinal operations starting in 2004 and much more. He was truly a friend, who had great compassion and cared greatly about his patients. His sense of humor was also a special gift. We had twin sons in common, mine a little older. I was devastated when I found out about his diagnosis, and then the medical leaves. Last October, when I saw him for the lt time, we had another thing to talk about his illness and my stepsons similiar diagnosis. I wish we didn't have to have that conversation. It has taken me so long to write as it has been difficult to come to the reality that I can't text or call Dr. "B" with the pain I have, no one can help me like he did. My heart goes out to his family, and they should know that
he was truly a "mensh."

I just found out about today that Dr. Brietstein passed away. I am so sad and sorry to hear this news. He was an amazing doctor and man. He has made the last 6 years of my life bearable by his unbelievable treatments and procedures, and more so, his compassion, humor and his wonderful personality. As a cancer patient myself he and I shared some personal thoughts about our cancers. Not many doctors would let you into something this personal in their lives-yet he did. My son and husband who met him whenever he did my procedures enjoyed his personality tremendously. Whenever I saw him in the office he always asked about my son and how he was doing with his career. My thoughts and condolences go to his wife, sons, and family. He was truly ONE of a kind! He will be missed by myself and so many. I am blessed that I did get to have him as my doctor. Thank you for ALL your help and concern always. Wendy Scatorchio.

I have been a patient of Dr.. Brietstein for many years and feel that I was truly blessed and privileged to have him as my doctor. He was extremely kind, caring and had a great smile and a heart of Gold. When my boys were much younger they accompanied me to my appointment with Dr. Brietstein and he would take the time to ask them what games they had played on PlayStation 2 and during my next appointment he handed me a huge shopping bag filled with games because his boys stopped playing with them and he felt that my boys would have fun with them. My boys and I will never forget his kindness and generosity.
Dr. Brietstein was dedicated to relieving his patients pain and suffering and I feel terrible that I did not have the chance to let him know how truly thankful I am for everything he has done for me. My sincere condolences to his wife Lisa, his boys and to all that new him, and are suffering from his passing, please remembe that Dr. Brietstein will always be in our hearts and are memories because he was that type of guy that you can never forget. I feel that with everything he has done for his patients that now it is Dr. Brietstein turn to be taken care of and all of his pain and suffering has been relieved. MY FRIEND MY BUDDY DANIEL BRIETSTEIN. MISS U FOREVER
May 9, 2017
This is a very bad day for me. I met Dr. Brietstein in 2004 when I was having chronic back pain. After our conversation, he assured me that with a few injections he could get me back in action. Well. in no time I was feeling like my old self and we built a friendship that would last until I found out he passed away. I knew Dan was sick, but he didnt lead on that he couldnt beat it. The past 6 months or so I would email and text him but received no reply. THe office told me that he will not respond and that he was resting at home. I found out tonite on Facebook that he had passed away. I feel so sad. I really wanted to see him one last time and thank him for all out talks and laughter. He did so much for me and we were even thinking about a Mets game. Dan, I will miss you like you were my own family, and my hearts bleeds. You are a great man. Save a space in Heaven for me. Luv ya buddy...
