DANIEL KAPLAN

KAPLAN--Daniel R., beloved husband of Renee Touriel Kaplan, passed away on December 7, one day shy of his 94th birthday. In addition to his wonderful wife of 67 years, he is survived by his children, Susan, Lisa, and Andrew; sons-in-law, Richard and T.J.; grandchildren, Lucy, Annie, Claire, Joseph, Anna, Benjamin, Matthew, Elizabeth, Keith, and Russell and their partners Alexander, Tea, Buck, Shanon, Lucy, and Hannah; and great-grand- children, Romaire and Ruby. His cherished daughter Amy predeceased him in June of 2022. Dan took enormous joy in his large and loving family, who loved and appreciated him dearly. Dan proudly served as a Lieutenant Senior Grade in the United States Navy from 1952-1955. A graduate of Franklin & Marshall College and Brooklyn Law School, he enjoyed a long and varied career as an executive of a candy company, the Chairman of a paper company, an investment banker, and a corporate attorney at several prestigious law firms up until his death. Most recently, he worked as Senior Counsel at the law firm of Dorf & Nelson LLP. Dan had a lifelong and passionate commitment to community service. He served as the President and Chairman of the Board of the 92nd Street Y, a Director of the Martha's Vineyard Hospital and the Philadelphia Eagles Youth Foundation, as well as the President of the American Jewish Historical Society. He will be remembered as a man who lived his life to the fullest. Dan was a devoted friend, professional mentor, and tireless builder of communities. A force in everything he believed in and did, Dan shared his contagious enthusiasm for wine, theater, dance, art, and philanthropy with his many friends and family.
