MANDEL--Daniel,

87, of Freeport, NY and Tamarac, FL passed away September 14. Born in Brooklyn, son of Morris and Hannah Mandel and brother of Ellen (died 1997). Husband of Delores (died 2003); father of Matt, Amy and Jodi Mandel (Chris Doherty); Poppy of Mollie and Anna Doherty; companion of Barbara Cohn. Dan graduated New Utrecht High School, Brooklyn College and Harvard Law School. An attorney in private practice who advocated for the integration of schools in the 1960's and the construction of affordable housing in the 1970's in Freeport. Lifelong Democrat and champion of civil rights. Avid golfer, talented artist and Donald Duck impressionist. We will miss him profoundly. Please donate to the progressive cause of your choice. Funeral service: Sunday, September 25 at Gutterman's, 175 N. Long Beach Road, Rockville Center, LI. Family visiting 9am; service 10am.

Ill never forget my favorite uncle Danny who took time to teach me how to do the DDuck talk when I was a kid. My love and sympathies to all of you kids and grandkids...: he was a gem!

Rest in Peace Danny. Thank you for taking the time to teach me how to do your favorite voice when I was just a kid. What a priceless gift! I've never forgotten. and your last visit to my mom meant so much to her. My condolences and love go out to Jody, Amy, Matt, Molly and Anna- I'm saddened by your loss of this very special man.
