DAVID BERMAN Obituary

BERMAN--David, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, friend and physician, passed away at 92 on Sunday, August 14th, 2022, in New York City. He was born in Brooklyn, New York to Goldie and Charles Berman. He attended Erasmus Hall High School, Columbia College (1951) and the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons (1955). After a rotating internship, he was a lieutenant and then captain in the United States Army, serving as a health inspector in NATO bases in eastern France, after which he trained in pediatrics as a resident at Jacobi Hospital in New York. He had a long and distinguished career as a pediatrician in solo private practice in Bayside, providing meticulous and compassionate care to his patients from all over Queens and Nassau over a period of 50 years. He was a modest but learned man who loved history, literature, politics, travel, music, food, art, and baseball, but most of all people; he had a passion for justice and fairness which he expressed mainly in his acts. He is survived and will be sorely missed by his wife Sharon, his sons Joshua (Claudia Brennan) and Jay (Jordana) and grandchildren Abigail, Alexander, Karen, and Rachel.

Dr Berman was my doctor in the late 60s to 70s. I remember his gentle manner. Hope his family and friends are well and know he was a great man! Thank you , Lou Medina, CLTC, MDRT

Dr Berman was my four kids doctor born in 1975, 1976, 1978, and 1984. He was the greatest. Willing to carry on a conversation with me. Once I called him because my kid was ill and He came over to my home to see her. When I needed to see Him he did not hesitate. He was caring. All I had to do was call him and He would say come in. Rest in peace Dr Berman. Truly missed.

I was born in 1981 in Flushing, Queens and my parents raved about Dr. Berman for 40 something years. tonight as I celebrated my 42nd birthday My mother was reminiscing about Dr. Berman so I decided to look him up as I don´t really remember what he looks like. So sad he passed but so happy the world had him for 92 years. how amazing that his past patients speaks so highly of him. he was definitely one of the best.

He was truly dedicated . My daughter was born in 1984 and he always answered his phone no matter what time you phoned . As a first time Mom he had me call him two consecutive mornings to "get the talk ". It was being a good mom 101. It was a common sense talk about safety . Simple things that needed to be said . I hope he enjoyed life to its fullest !
