DAVID M. GEIGER

GEIGER--David M., 88, of Fort Lee, NJ and Boynton Beach, FL, passed away on August 25th after a long illness. For many years, David was a director at Kee-Wah Camps in Wingdale, NY, owned by his parents, Adolph and Ida Geiger. David taught at New Rochelle High School, was a Professor of History at Herbert Lehman College, a dean in the Education Department at Fairleigh Dickinson University, and Chairman of the Social Studies Department at Fairlawn High School, NJ. A graduate of Cornell University, David earned his masters and doctorate from Columbia University, and also studied at the Sorbonne. A scholar and natural raconteur, David was admired by all for his knowledge on a wide range of subjects. His gift for seamlessly weaving his erudition into absorbing stories-- and always with a dollop of humor-- was reflected in his lively conversations, and also in the doggerel poems he wrote for many happy occasions. His gentle wit and personable manner endeared him to countless students, colleagues, friends, and family. David leaves behind his wife Arlene Warren Geiger, of Fort Lee, NJ and Boynton Beach, FL, his sister and brother-in-law, Skitz and Norman J. Nichols, his son, Jonathan Geiger and wife, Jan, his daughter, Miriam Glassman and husband, Steven, his stepdaughters Diane Reppert and husband Paul, Jodi Magen and husband, Burt, his stepson, Richard Eggert and wife Elizabeth, son-in-law, Tim Reppert, and grandchildren, Emily, Julia, Stephanie, Sophia, Jessica, Hayley, Elyse and Sarah.
