DAVID GOODMAN Obituary

GOODMAN--David S., 88, on April 4, 2010 at LIJ Hospital. Beloved husband for 69 years of Bernice Wedeen Goodman (Bunny). Devoted father of Tom S. Goodman, Manchester, VT. Predeceased by his daughter Sally F. Amar. Proud and loving grandfather of Tristan X. Goodman, Manchester, VT, his sister Nellie Charney and nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. His mother died when he was very young. He was valedictorian in elementary school. Attended Townsend Harris High School, CCNY and graduated NYU Dental School at the top of his class. He was a Captain in the US Army Dental Corps and served in England, France and Belgium during the Battle of the Bulge. He was a life long inventor, builder, artist and teacher. He is a past president of New York Chapter of The National Clock Association and his book "This Old Clock" is used internationally. His interests in clocks and the diversity of clockwork brought him to the New York Public Library at 42nd and 5th Avenue where he spent years educating himself in the history of mechanical clocks, and their technological changes over the centuries. He taught clock history and repair at Roslyn High School, Long Island for over 20 years and loved every minute with his students. He made time to travel with his wife and children through England and Europe. He valued his time on earth and made the most of it-No Regrets.
