KOMANSKY--David H. The NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital Board of Trustees and administrative and clinical staff mourn the death of our longtime Trustee David H. Komansky. David was elected a Trustee of New York-Presbyterian Hospital in 2001. An exceptionally dedicated Board member, David served on the Hospital's Executive Committee and was Chair Emeritus of the Investment Committee. David's compassion and commitment to the needs of young patients and their families helped the Hospital transform pediatrics at our Weill Cornell campus with the establishment of the Phyllis and David Komansky Center for Children's Health in 2005. Thanks to David's vision and generosity, the NewYork- Presbyterian Komansky Chil- dren's Hospital is a full-service, multidisciplinary pediatrics program. Its highly skilled physicians, all of whom are affiliated with Weill Cornell Medicine, have expertise in every pediatric specialty, including respiratory conditions, cancer, and congenital heart disease. David was Chairman Emeritus of Merrill Lynch & Co., Inc. and retired in 2003 after spending 35 years at the firm. Among many professional affiliations, David served as a director of BlackRock and as a member of the International Advisory Board of the British American Business Council. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of London-based WPP. David was born in Mount Vernon, New York, and raised in the Bronx. He attended the University of Miami and completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School in 1990. We send our deepest and heartfelt sympathies to his wife, Phyllis, his children, Jennifer and Elyssa (Simon Williams), and grandchildren, Joey and Maverick.
