DAVID SHAPELL Obituary
The American Society for Yad Vashem mourns the passing of David Shapell, one of the original Visionaries of the Society and Vice Chair of the West Coast region. David was born in Wolbrom, Poland and lost most of his family during the Holocaust. After the war, David met Fela in Germany and they were married there. Together they moved to the United States and had three children, Rochelle, Benjamin and Irvin. David Shapell was dedicated to the mission of Holocaust remembrance and was a steadfast partner and patron of Yad Vashem. The Visitors Center at Yad Vashem was established thanks to the generosity of David and Fela Shapell, as well as a Study Center in the museum. They recently gave the inaugural donation to build a new Art, Artifacts and Archive Repository at Yad Vashem. We send our heartfelt condolences to Fela and to the entire family.
