"Dear John, Dick and Debbie, I was a voice student and chorister of Dino while completing my graduate degrees at Teachers College Columbia U. For many years I performed with his chorus. I am currently a music professor at Manchester Community College in Manchester, CT. For 13 years I served as conductor of the concert choir. It was the knowledge I gained from my experience with Dino that enabled me to meet the challenges of performing major choral works. My mother's visits from North Carolina were partly to attend our concerts. Dino would go out of his way to greet my mother with kind words. She was so pleased to meet him. He could be vocally intimidating but he had a kind heart and a love of music. The last concert she attended was in Spring of 1985-just before discovering that her cancer return, She died a year later. Her fondest memories were of flying to NYC to see the concerts-especially the Christmas performances held at the Holy Greek Orthodox Church. I learned so much from him and will miss him deeply. My sincerest condolences to you all. " Deborah A. Simmons, Ed.D., (East Hartford, CT)

In 1967 I was 14 years old, and a student at the University of Vermont Summer Music Session for High School Students. Mr. Anagnost was the assistant choral director, in charge of the Chamber Choir. He conducted a performance of the Mozart Missa Brevis in F that was absolutely breathtaking. Half the tenor section was in tears during the Agnus Dei. It literally changed my life, because at that moment I knew I wanted to be a musician. I still have a tape of that concert, and it's still awesome, in the true sense of the word. I never saw Mr. Anagnost again, but I always remembered him. Thank you for your contribution to my life, and to so many others'.

As a dancer and mime, I had the luck and honor of being mentored by Dino many years ago when he was the artistic director of the New York Committee of Young Audiences. He gave me the gift of developing my talent for teaching and performing for children. Dino was a caring and generous friend and will be remembered always.
So deeply sad.

Dear Dick and family,

Our deepest condolences to you all. Dino was a great and talented man, and we enjoyed his company as a friend as well. I was so appreciative to be his guest with you to watch him do what he did best, being Maestro to the children at a Christmas performance in NY. We will miss him greatly, and will pray for you. Be comforted by the fact that your wonderful memories and musical creations of your brother will continue to live on forever.

With our love, Dana and Jerry Carson

Our four-year-old twin daughters have been enjoying Dino's "Lolli-Pops" concerts for over a year. When she heard (and understood) that Dino had died, Sara's eyes filled with tears and she said, "But I really REALLY want him to come back!" So do we all.

I had the amazing honor of working for Maestro in the early 90's. He was at my wedding, he was my first born's musical G-d Father. He held him at his Bris. I am so sorry that i lost touch with him. Maestro was such a warm, loving, high-spirited man. Even though I had not seen him for many years, i still thought of him often. I am grateful to have had him in my life. i will always miss and love him.

Dino was a mentor, colleague, and friend for over 20 years. I admired him greatly, and will always remember his incredible commitment to creativity and contributions to music in NY, especially to children.

With all of my heart, I send my deepest sympathies to the entire Little Orchestra Family for this loss.

Dear Dino,
My family but especially I have no words to tell my deep sorrow and loss knowing I can no longer pick up the phone just to talk, joke, admire, gossip, or sing our special non-song. I.ve known you since the first undergraduate days at B.U.. You learned then about classical Armenian choral/vocal music which you conducted and interpreted so well. I learned from you about special sacred and secular Greek music which I sang in church and in concerts. You were coach, my most supportive pianist and very dear friend.
We'll think of you dearly always.

I had the honor of working alongside Maestro Dino and the Little Orchestra in NYC for two seasons of "Every Picture Tells a Story" - a children's concert which brought classical music, art and story to families. I painted huge murals live on stage while Maestro conducted. It was an amazing experience. It was having a meal with him after the show that is most memorable though... this quiet time with this larger-than-life man goes in my Most Memorable Moments chapter of my own life story. His legacy will be carried by all those he inspired over the decades.
