DON MILLS

MILLS--Don F., Sr. Don F. Mills, Sr., age 89, passed away peacefully on April 4th, 2022 surrounded by family at home on Cape Cod, MA. Don was born on April 5th, 1933 in Chicasaw, OK. He graduated from Port Washington High School on Long Island, NY and went on to graduate from Duke University with a BS in Chemistry in 1955. He was drafted into the Navy and served on the USS Forrestal. In 1958 he married Ellen Ann Ward. Together they had three children, and raised them in Westport, CT and Bucks County, PA. He was a career sales executive in the fragrance industry and served as president of CIBS (Cosmetic Industry Buyers and Suppliers Organization) in the late 1960's. In later years he divided his time and talents between the fragrance industry and the hospitality business, opening the original Bed and Breakfast in Bucks County, PA in the late 1970's-The Inn at Barley Sheaf Farm. In the late 1990's Don retired with his wife to the Caribbean where he eventually began his 3rd career as co-founder of Nevis hydro-gardens. Their hydroponic produce supplies supermarkets and restaurants on both Nevis and St. Kitts. Over the years, Don became affectionately referred to as "The Lettuce Man". Don had many longtime friends and was a world class host. He had an infectiously optimistic outlook and incredible energy that brought joy to many. He was a talented singer and dancer and a lover of people and animals. Don was also a devout Catholic. In later years he took up the guitar and always enjoyed a good Karaoke with family and friends. Don is survived by his three children. Don Mills Jr. of Millsboro, DE. Christine Taylor of Falmouth, MA and Kimberly Rizk of Princeton, NJ. Don was also blessed with seven grandchildren and five great- grandchildren.
