Douglas V'Soske Obituary

1928 - 2014
Douglas Dean V'Soske, 86, of Newtown Square, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2014, after a long illness.

The memorial service will be held at Donahue's Funeral Home in West Chester on Thursday, June 12, 2014, at 1:00.

Doug was born in Lansing, Michigan, on March 30, 1928. He moved with his parents, Vesta and Thaddeus V'Soske, to Vega Baja, Puerto Rico, during Operation Bootstrap. They set up
and developed a custom rug factory and trained hundreds of workers in the art of rug making. Doug was an integral part of the company for over forty years. More than eighty years later,
the factory is still manufacturing rugs designed by the world's most prominent architects.

Doug went to local schools and within a very short time was fluent in Spanish. He spent four years of high school at Mount Hermon boarding school in Northfield, Massachusetts,
and after graduation went on to study at Boston University.

Doug was curious, creative, and brilliant. He was a wordsmith who delighted in writing and recording his ideas and observations.

Doug had an unshakable faith, a passion for reading and road trips, and was a tireless worker and volunteer.
He was employed as a business manager by Steve McCurry Studios, until the time of his death.

Doug is predeceased by his wife, Anne Stone V'Soske, and is survived by his wife, Bonnie K. McCurry, seven children, and wonderful grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Salvation Army. www.salvationarmyusa.org or
Northfield Mount Hermon School. www.nmhschool.org

Doug's family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude for the loving care by the staff of Chester County Hospital. They treated him like a member of their own family, and we will be forever grateful.

Our sincerest condolences to the whole family. Once a fellow in workshop in 2012 wz always wondered what a great father Steve Mc Curry must have had.
