Your intellect, careful scholarship, and compassion were a source of inspiration to me and many others in the Society for Textual Scholarship. Far beyond us, your voice will be missed but your work will live on to shape the passion and intellects of generations to come.

Dear family and friends of Ed,
When our department learned of his death, we were all greatly saddened and we send you our love.
Ed always had a great story to tell and juicy gossip to share. Since his retirement, he´s been missed by so many people at the university. Lovingly, Ellen F.

Dr Burns was a professor of mine many moons ago when I attended William Paterson University in NJ. He ignited my passion for modernist lit and poetry--he was a true character and a passionate educator.

I was a colleague of your uncle´s at William Paterson. He was unique-a serious scholar and committed teacher, with a strong sense of social Justice. I´m sorry for his passing.

I just found out today 12/5 of your uncles passing. I was the administrative assistant at William Paterson University and worked with Ed for many years. I really enjoyed working with him and we still occasionally kept in touch. I am really sorry for your loss. Your Uncle spoke very highly of you all.
