EDWARD LAMONT Obituary
The Children's Aid Society mourns the passing of Edward Miner (Ted) Lamont, former chairman of the board and a tireless advocate for New York City children. A native New Yorker, Ted served on the Children's Aid board for 45 years, including as president from 1981-1987 and chair from 1987-1993. He was an outspoken supporter of community schools and ensuring high-quality academic opportunities for all children. He was also deeply involved in managing the organization's financial affairs. In recognition of Ted's many contributions, he was awarded Children's Aid's highest honor, the Charles Loring Brace Award, in 1999. My great sympathies to Ned, to Helen and Kim and the various grandchildren. We miss Buz all the time, and now sadly, Ted is gone.
Almost called him a couple of weeks ago just to chat. Wish I had. At our ages, we must act and not delay or it will be too late.

I am deeply saddened by Ted's passing. I grew to know and love him thru several CAS board trips overseas, as well as being fellow board members.
I fondly remember the evening he came up to the Frederick Douglas Center during a Mentoring program to speak to the young teens. He capture their attention AND interest with his great knowledge of history and connected poetry with their love for rap!
He will truly be missed, though I know he is in a special place now with Buzz.
