ELISABETH ELKIND Obituary

ELKIND--Elisabeth Hall,

61, died peacefully at her Brooklyn home on March 13 after a long battle with cancer. Beloved wife of David Alquist, devoted mother to Cordelia and Miranda Alquist; adored daughter of the late Charlotte and Morton Elkind; sister of the late Margaret Elkind-Van Gelder; and brother to Samuel Elkind. Revered by many nieces and nephews including Eric and Will Van Gelder and Lexie and Daniel Elkind. Elisabeth graduated from the Packer Collegiate Institute and Brown University, and was awarded a Master's degree in Library Science from Simmons College and a second master's in American History from New York University. Her career as an archivist commenced at Harvard University's Widener and Houghton Libraries, and continued for many years at the New York Public Library. Elisabeth's unwavering spirit, courage, and moral resolution will forever be missed by all who had the privilege to know her. A memorial at Green-Wood Cemetery will follow this spring.
