ELLEN LANGNER Obituary

LANGNER--Ellen V., passed away peacefully on April 11, 2025 at her home in New York City. Ellen was born in Manhattan on June 6, 1931 to Frances (Frankie) Monfried and Harold Vorzimer. She attended Hunter College Elementary School, Horace Mann-Lincoln High School ('48), and Vassar College ('52). She was the former wife of the late Jay B. Langner, and was married to the late Henry Herzfeld until his death in 2009. Professionally, Ellen was a partner in the Rodier boutique on Madison Ave., and then in Holly Solomon Editions, a print editions gallery. In 1988, she founded Langner O'Brien Interiors, Ltd. and remained active in the business until a few years ago. Ellen was a brilliant and multi-faceted woman - a voracious reader, puzzle-solver extraordinaire, art aficionado, world traveler, gracious hostess, and lover of pugs. She was the embodiment of elegance, taste, culture, and sophistication. Ellen is survived by her beloved family: her daughter Virginia Luppescu (Neal), her son David Langner, her grandchildren Caroline Karter (Andrew), Gregory Luppescu, Sophia Langner (and fiance Paul Adams) and Geoffrey Langner, as well as two great- grandchildren. Gifts in her name may be made to the Ellen Vorzimer Langner Scholarship Fund, Office of Advancement, Vassar College, 161 College Ave., Box 14, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. May her memory be a blessing.
