My husband Jim and I always enjoyed our visits with Emek. The discussion was always spirited and deep, I always came away with a feeling of having learned something important, and I enjoyed the intellectual exchange so much. You are indeed missed by all who knew you.

Brilliant, kind, brutally honest and a major contributor to his community and our society. In many ways a strong mentor and too a much softer mensch. A cherished friend who is
missed.

Emek was one of my favorite colleagues, from our first meeting when I moved to Michigan to our last dinner together more than 30 years later. Always stimulated my thinking and my teaching.

Dr. Tanay,
You've added so much to the world! From writing one of the first books about the psychological effects of the Holocaust, to helping make PTSD an accepted diagnosis, to your understanding of the criminal mind, to sharing your astounding escape from the Nazis' plans for our people in "Passport to Life." A bright light left this world when you passed. But your legacy continues to shine. I'm proud to have known you..
