My husband Jim and I always enjoyed our visits with Emek. The discussion was always spirited and deep, I always came away with a feeling of having learned something important, and I enjoyed the intellectual exchange so much. You are indeed missed by all who knew you.

Emek was one of my favorite colleagues, from our first meeting when I moved to Michigan to our last dinner together more than 30 years later. Always stimulated my thinking and my teaching.
