EMILY BERGER Obituary

BERGER--Emily. Emily was a remarkable woman. She entered college at Cornell at 16 and after graduation and a few years in the working world, began law school at NYU. There she excelled serving as Notes and Comment Editor on the NYU Law Review. She started her legal career at Davis Polk. After a short stint in the Manhattan District Attorney's Office, she joined the US Attorney's Office in the Eastern District of New York. There she served as a federal prosecutor for 32 years, rising to become Deputy Chief of Criminal Appeals. But more important to Emily than her professional life was her family. She married Andy when she was 20, beginning a loving 57-year partnership. Together they raised two sons, Evan (married to Michelle) and Alexander who predeceased her. Emily blessed her family and friends with love, warmth, and kindness. By her gentle words and thoughtful actions she made all those around her feel cared for, heard and appreciated. Her quiet strength brought comfort in good times and bad. She touched many lives and will be missed by all those who knew her. Funeral services will be at the Plaza Jewish Community Chapel, 630 Amsterdam Ave, New York at 11:30am on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.
