"You've got to write a book!" Those were the words of Gene when I first met him in the early 80's, and he sat through one of my lectures. I wrote "Hands of the Carpenter" which was published in 2018. It was not a religious book, as some might believe the title suggests. It was an analogy of the callouses on the hands of a carpenter and the emotional callouses first responders develop as a result of what they see, hear, smell, taste and touch. It was a catharsis for me. As a law enforcement officer, I had been shot at on six occasions and a man tried to cut me in half with a double-bladed axe after he killed a woman in a department store. I received rave reviews from my peers in law enforcement. Even those from the general public gave the book 5 stars on Amazon. Gene helped a great many people, and he certainly helped me. Thank you, Gene, RIP my friend.

I knew Gene through the Anthroposophical Prison Outreach program of the Anthroposophical Society. He was amazingly supportive of our work and provided books at a discounted low price which we then made available to people in prison all around the US who wanted to take up a path of inner work and self-development. He was always of a good spirit. Thank you Gene!

Gene commissioned a sculpture from me of Michael slaying the dragon. I ended up sculpting an androgynous being embracing the dragon with one hand and holding a new born in the other as my rendition. I called the sculpture The Choice.

He was a magician, a brilliant humanitarian, a wild man, and so much more. His being will be missed.
